About
I provide stress-free pet care, ensuring pets stay happy and enjoy life!
I'm Louise, a qualified and experienced veterinary nurse specialising in at-home pet care. My love for animals began at a young age and inspired me to volunteer with various animal welfare organisations and care for many foster pets. These volunteering experiences showed me the importance of advocating for animal welfare and how fortunate family pets are to have humans who would do anything for them. This led me to study veterinary nursing as I felt compelled to support families who want to go above and beyond for their pets.
Throughout my career in multiple vet clinics across Auckland, I observed the common challenges pet owners face. Finding time within a busy workweek to attend vet appointments is hard enough, but many owners also struggle with anxious pets. Often, appointments are cancelled or delayed because owners can't catch their cat in time or have difficulty coaxing their dog through the clinic door.
It can be very distressing to bundle a reluctant cat into a carrier or comfort a nervous dog. Understandably, this leads many well-intentioned owners to feel that the benefits of regular treatments at the clinic do not outweigh the considerable stress they induce, both for the pets and the owners.
Caring for pets with heart and expertise in veterinary nursing and pet sitting
Pets at Home is my passion project designed to address these challenges. By identifying nursing treatments that can be safely and effectively provided at home, I offer a stress-free alternative for pets and their owners.
Whether administering a tablet, providing a monthly pain relief injection, or grooming out mats, the same core problem often makes these tasks difficult – stress and anxiety! I am here to support you, as having these tasks performed by a professional at home can greatly reduce your pet’s anxiety. I regularly hear how a feisty pet at the vet clinic is a little angel at home, and I love witnessing this change myself! Pets do not understand the ‘why’ behind our actions, and we cannot explain to them that it’s only because we care about them and want to keep them healthy. Realising this, my goal is to perform their treatments kindly and gently.
When you’re away from home overnight, I understand that finding the right care for your pet is so important. Many pets feel uncomfortable and stressed in boarding facilities, as they find unfamiliar surroundings and new faces overwhelming. That’s why I offer at-home pet sitting. I believe that pets thrive best in their own environment, where they can stick to their regular routines and feel secure. By keeping them at home, I can help reduce their stress and spare them the added discomfort of travel. My aim is to ensure your pet remains happy and relaxed, just as if you were there with them!
