About

We love seeing our pets happy and enjoying life, pet care shouldn’t be stressful.

I’m Louise, a qualified and experienced veterinary nurse specialising in at-home pet care. My passion for animals started early; I always wanted to keep the farm kittens, feed the lambs, and create a home for the frogs I found! This drive led me to various volunteer opportunities with animals in need with SPCA Auckland and South Pacific Animal Welfare (SPAW) in Tonga, where there are plenty of animals but, sadly, no permanent veterinary clinic. I’ve welcomed many rescue kittens, rabbits, and even piglets into my home to foster while they grow or recover from surgery before finding their forever home. These volunteering experiences have shown me how lucky we are to have family pets where we can go above and beyond for them and led me to study veterinary nursing.

Working in multiple vet clinics across Auckland has given me invaluable insight into pet owners' common issues; anxious pets, struggling to find time to visit the clinic, and cancelled appointments as owners can’t catch their cat. It can be very distressing having to bundle a reluctant cat into a carrier or having a dog who won’t step through the vet clinic door. Some owners end up feeling that the benefits of their pet receiving regular treatments at the clinic do not outweigh the stress they induce! This knowledge fueled my dedication to identifying nursing treatments that could be given at home to create a stress-free and convenient alternative for owners and pets.

Pet care can be difficult at times!

Whether trying to give a tablet, receiving a monthly pain relief injection, or grooming out mats, it’s usually the same core problem that makes it difficult – stress and anxiety! I am here to support you, as these tasks performed by a professional at home can greatly reduce your pet’s anxiety. I regularly hear how a feisty pet in the clinic is a little angel at home, and I love witnessing this change myself!  They do not understand the ‘why’ behind our actions, and we cannot explain to them that it’s because we care for them and want to keep them healthy. In realising this, we are responsible for performing their treatments kindly and gently.

I obtained my Fear Free certification as both a veterinary professional and pet sitter to support my passion for prioritising the emotional well-being of our pets. The Fear Free approach is an evidence-based method that ensures pets can receive ongoing treatment and care with reduced stress. Learn more about the Fear Free mission at https://fearfreepets.com/

As a vet and parent of two hairy children; a very needy chocolate Labrador and a Russian Blue cat who is high maintenance and who thinks he is the boss, I am very particular as to who to trust to look after my babies. I can wholeheartedly recommend Louise who is super attentive, always notified me with anything that concerned her and also medicated both of them, one who has allergies and one who needs special chemotherapy tablets. I have always left to go on holiday with total peace of mind, knowing my animals are getting the best care.
